What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are one of the best options for replacing missing teeth or ones that are beyond repair and have a poor prognosis of surviving. Majority of dental implants are made up of titanium base that is supposed to act as the holder of the dental crown (cap) that is going to be placed on top, replacing the missing tooth.
Dental Implants vs dental bridge
A dental implant usually replaces the missing tooth/teeth without the need of support from the nearby teeth. This means that there is no need to shave down the adjacent tooth structures. However implant does require a minor dental surgery and usually takes longer for the final tooth cap to be placed. Cost for both should be about the same.
Best results are seen in non smoker/ non diabetic patients who have a good oral hygiene routine.
Why Get Dental Implants?
Studies show that missing teeth can greatly compromise our quality of life and longevity. Missing teeth can mess up our bite and compromise our health over time, not to mention restricting our diet and lowering our confidence in social settings.
Your Consultation Consultation includes getting a 3D xray (CBCT) and a #D oral scan to form a complete digital avatar of the patient’s mouth and jaw structure. This allows us to accurately plan for the placement of the implant. In many cases we use a GPS guided machine that allows us to place the implants with unmatched accuracy. This means a quicker visit for the patient and better outcome of the treatment.
Recovery Recovery depends on the patient but usually, besides some minor soreness for 24-48 hours, most patients have no pain.
